LithCast was the world's first solely Nintendo podcast (on
iTunes at least).
It was started by Daniel Friedlaender, who resides in San
Diego, California. He started it because as an Apple fan,
he had watched the live stream of Steve Jobs' speech where
he unveiled podcasting as the newest thing for iTunes. He
figured that since there were already podcasts on Apple,
that were pretty good, that he would do a Nintendo Podcast
He had always been a fan of Nintendo. He had simply grown
up with Nintendo products, and always bought the new
Nintendo games, especially for GameBoy Color. He had simply
assumed that Nintendo was the best company around. He
obtained a new-found interest in the company during E3
2004, where Nintendo took the wraps off of the Nintendo DS.
He had been waiting for a new type of GameBoy anyway. He
became a senior news contributer for DSFans.com (now
offline). The first episode came out on July 31st, 2005.
Daniel Friedlaender went by the alias DSCUBED for about 20
episodes of the podcast before deciding to reveal his real
name. The podcast grew and eventually, out of the kindness
of a listener, a logo was created:
The reason you have visited this page though, was probably
to ask, "Why LITHCast?"
Well, its actually very simple. LITH is an acronym. The
word, "Nintendo," comes from the phrase, "Leave it to
Heaven," and that is where LITH comes from.
